The VIII International Art Symposium "Alanika"
"The Warmth of Patchwork Blanket" is the symposium theme that unites 20 painters from the Republics of the Caucasus, regions of Russia and several countries of the world.
Within 15 days the painters will implement their projects in order through the prism of various artistic views to explore the concept of "gaps", "interruptions" in the system of human values, "disruptions" in the space of the past that have made impact on the formation of the post-Soviet visual culture.
The symposium objective is not only to state the existence of the problem, but provide an opportunity for the participants to apply a positive vector to further development and try to tie up those "gaps".
The symposium parallel programmes feature: the III Forum of young painters of the Northern Caucasus "ART CAUCASUS NEXT"; meeting of the experts of Potanin Fund and Timchenko Fund with the museum community of Ossetia; the forum dedicated to the issues of formation of contemporary art space in the region.
The audience can follow the work of the symposium, visit both open studios and authors’ creative meetings in evenings that will be daily held in the halls of the National Library as well as in social media.
