The VII International Festival of Military and Historical Reconstruction and Medieval Culture "The Iron City"
The historical reconstruction takes place in amazingly beautiful place - in ancient Izborsk that has celebrated its 1150-th anniversary recently. Izborsk was one of the first border stops at north-west frontier of ancient Russia, one of the most interesting monuments of defensive architecture. The unique ensemble of Izborsk castle has well preserved the fragments of walls, towers, special defensive arrangements as well as St. Nicholas Church of the XIV century at its territory.
The clubs of military historical reconstruction from Russia, the Baltic States, Ukraine and Belarus take part in the festival. The historical camp is set that features both the everyday life of medieval people, the work of artisans and military activities.
This year some 600 fighters from historical reconstruction clubs will take part in the festival. All activities of the festival programme will be held at the plateau reigning supreme over the lake of Gorodyshchensk, an evening concert will take place on the stage situated on the rampart.
The festival programme features show performances, mass staged battles, tournament of archers, equestrian competitions, catwalk of historical costumes.
