Shevchenko Festival will take place in Samara
On March 22, the XXI Regional Festival of Ukrainian Culture "Shevchenko Spring” will be held in Samara. The event is dedicated to the 200-th anniversary of Ukrainian poet and artist Taras Shevchenko.
Back in 1847 he was passing through Samara on his way to exile in Orenburg and ten years lateron the way back home, the Ukrainian again has stayed in Samara. Taras Shevchenko has climbed up the famous Tsar's mound and made the entry on that in his diary. His impressions of the city are also reflected in the story "The Twins".
The folk choirs "Promin" and "Dnipro", folk groups from different cities and areas of the region will participate in the festival (held at Samara Center for Arts in the House of Culture "Victory").
Prior to the concert one may see the exhibition of arts and crafts and household items of the Ukrainian people organized in the foyer of the House of Culture.
