The Patriotic Campaign with the Slogan "I remember! I'm proud!" to Take Place in Tula Region on October 11 and 12
The All-Russia memory action "The Green Dubrava" (The green oak forest) will be held at the field of Kulikovo.
As part of the patriotic project every Russian citizen may plant a tree at the field of Kulikovo, in that way paying tribute to Russian soldiers who died at the field of Kulikovo in 1380 as well as to relatives who fought for the Motherland.
The action place is in the legendary forest Green Dubrava (The green oak forest). By the legend, exactly at the place the ambush regiment, that has defined the outcome of the Battle at Kulikovo, was waiting for its time of attack.
Centuries later, nothing was left from the oak forest known from the chronicles. In the course of years of research by paleobotanists and study of Kulikovo field landscape experts have defined the borders of the oak forest down to a meter.
During the patriotic action tens of thousands of seedlings of traditional northern forest trees were planted at the place.
The action participants not only pay tribute to the memory of the ancestors, but also contribute to the restoration of the historic landscape of the field of Kulikovo.
In 2014, the action "Green Dubrava" will be held again at the battlefield of 1380 – by the river of Smolka and the gorge Rybiy Verkh. At those historic areas it is planned to plant some 8,000 seedlings.
All those who care about the history of this state and the memory of those who sacrificed their lives at martial fields of the Motherland, may join the campaign "The Green Dubrava". The meeting is on October 12 at the field of Kulikovo in Visitor Center of the museum and memorial complex in the village of Monastyrshchino. The action starts at 10.30.
