For four days, from May 15 to 18 May, 2014, in Moscow with the support of Moscow Committee for tourism and hotel economy All-Russian Choral Competition "Choral Moscow - 2014" will take place - the first in the history of Russia choral event of such scale.

In the competition 36 choirs from 15 cities of Russia, a total of more than 1,000 people will participate.

Moscow will turn into the choral capital of Russia and welcome amature choral creative teams of all ages, from pre-school to retirement years of age that are all united by the love for singing.

To the public and jury the teams will present all genre spectrum of choral art, including classical, spiritual, folk music and music of people of Russia.

The competition will be held in 15 categories and run for four nominations, winners will be determined by a jury on the basis of an objective estimation according to 50-points’ system.

The competition jury embraces the elite of Russian choral Olympus – a professor of Moscow Conservatory, Institute of Ippolitov-Ivanov, Moscow State Pedagogical University named after Lenin. The members of jury will give professional advice to the groups that will allow them to go on improving their performing skills and hold a series of master classes in choral conducting and vocal for heads of artistic groups.

The competition will open on May 15 at 20.30 at the Roman Catholic Cathedral on Malaya Gruzinskaya street. In the concert dedicated to the opening of the competition the Choir of conducting and choral department of Moscow Conservatory under the direction of Honoured Artist of RSFSR, the professor of Moscow Conservatory, the chairman of the jury of "Choral Moscow - 2014" competition Stanislav Kalinin will perform.

The final concert of "Choral Moscow - 2014" competition, the grand prix contest and awarding of the winners will take place on May 18 in the Grand Hall of the Central House of Writers and start at 18.00.

For the competition participants rich and diverse thematic excuriosn itinerary in the capital with emphasis on music has been developed – the city tour by double-decker buses of CitySightseeing company as well as walking tours around Moscow with the guides from MoskvaKhod society of strolling, excursions to the museum of musical culture named after Glinka.
