This year, in the International Musical Festival artists from Russia, China, Israel, Great Britain, Japan, Ecuador, S. Korea, Sweden, South Africa, USA, Australia and other countries will take part.

Russia at the festival will be represented by Nargiz Zakirova known by her participation in Russian TV show "The Voice" where she managed to reach the final round.

In the opening ceremony the Minister of culture of RF Vladimir Medinsky will take part.

The news on festival opening is published at the portal of Russia Ministry of Culture.

At the festival young contestants will compete, on the first day they will perfom their own song or a song of their country, on the second day – cover version of some international hit.

On the last day of "The White Nights" gala concert will take place, during it the festival winners will be awarded.

The festival theme is Russian musical culture.

The first festival "The White Nights of St. Petersburg" was held in 1992 in St. Petersburg. Later, the festival was held three more times – in 1993, 1994 and 1995. The festival management has also organized two large-scale gala concerts – in 2003 during the celebration of the 300-th anniversary of St. Petersburg and 2006 in time of the summit of the "Big Eight".

The festival has regained its former glory in 2011, from that time for two consequent years it attracts to its stage not only gifted artists from around the world, seeking to gain popularity, but well-reputed performers as well.
