For the fifth time in Moscow region, within the frames of the celebration of the International Museum Day, on the night from May 17 to 18 the regional museum and exhibition, cultural and educational as well as enlightening action "The Night at the Museum" will take place. Last year 31 museums took part in the event.

This year, 44 museums at the territory of Moscow region have prepared interactive programmes for various categories of visitors. The museums will prolong the time of their operation until midnight. Many of them will go beyond the frames of both purely museum sphere and museums themselves. In time of the event the museums’ visitors may participate in quests, see performances, listen to music and even play a game of croquet.

At the State literary and memorial museum-reserve of A.P. Chekhov "Melikhovo" the grand opening of the International Theatre Festival "Melikhovskaya Spring" will take place as well as excursions to the Main house of the estate.

Serpukhov historical and arts museum will show how one may relax nicely. The wide programme includes contest of drawing in the style of Russian avant-garde painting, face-art based on the works by Natalia Goncharova, tea drinking, playing forfeits, solving charades and much more.

In the State historical and literary museum-reserve of A.S. Pushkin visitors can participate in the excursion "Meetings with the past" with lanterns and candles lit - through the expositions of the palace and its wing and become guests of "The Queen of Spades".

Sergiev Posad State history and arts museum-reserve for its "night" guests has prepared the programme dedicated to the 50-th years of the XX century.

In the museum-reserve "Lenin Hills" a holiday for children and grown-ups "Hello, pioneer summer!" will be held. The museum-reserve "Dmitrov Kremlin" will present the programme «Back in the USSR». Into the Middle Ages will be sent visitors of "Volokolamsk Kremlin" museum.

"Moscow region for the fifth time supports the European project "The Night at the Museum" - says Minister of culture of Moscow region Oleg Rozhnov. - The scale of the event is markedly growing from year to year, it is encompassing more and more museums of Moscow region. The guests of the Museum Night - 2014 will see interesting and rich programme: exhibitions, concerts, contests, excursions, quizzes and special programmes, too, aimed at various categories of visitors".
