The international festival DeltaTurFest and the participation in inter-region cultural and touristic project The Great Silk Road will become some of the main events of the Culture Year for Astrakhan region, said Minister of Culture of the region Irina Tarasova at the meeting of board officers devoted to the plans for 2014.
The agreement with the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation on the participation of Astrakhan region in The Great Silk Road project was signed in 2013.
"The project, as The Great Silk Road itself in the past, is transnational one - tourists have the opportunity to visit several countries and get acquainted with the culture and traditions of each country, including Russia", - said Irina Tarasova.
In her opinion, the integration of unique cultural sites of Lower Volga region into All-Russian united route will provide Astrakhan region with new opportunities for the development of international tourism.
The region would be represented not only as the land of fishing and hunting, but as a historical place, too, that has preserved the unique artifacts from old times.
Another project in the field of cultural tourism – The International Festival DeltaTurFest – will
be accomplished in the region for the first time. The festival was supported by the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation after successful organization by Astrakhan of International cultural tourism forum of Caspian cooperation in September 2013. The festival aimed at the development of partnership among the countries of the Caspian Sea promises to become a regular event, its federal and regional funding has been approved.
