Kazan waits for guests at Chaliapin festival
Chaliapin festival that will take place in the capital of TatarstanRepublic from 2 to 18 February 2014 is the major opera eventsignificant not only for the city of Kazan.
The festival programme will include 10 performances and two gala concerts featuring guest artists from England, Belarus, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and the USA.
Two first nights - The Barber of Seville by Rossini and Gershwin opera Porgy and Bess with the participation of African-American singers in the leading roles will be the highlights of the festival.
The festival attracts not only the city residents, yet a considerable number of tourists, too. According to Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Sergey Ivanov, such events always have full house: "The demand for festivals is huge, they are a kind of hallmark of our capital. Guests from other cities and republics specially come to Kazan for the period of opera and musical festival. Certainly, today Chaliapin Festival is the brand of Kazan that attracts tourists”.
