The Festival-Contest of Slavic Culture to Take Place in Eastern Part of Moscow Region
The International Contest of slavic culture "Kupala evenings on the river Volkhonka" will be held from July 4 to 6, 2014, in Noginsk, Moscow region.
The idea of the event was born due to the current world political situation. The founders and the festival organizing committee would like to remind Russians and citizens of other Slavic states of the existence of common roots, single history and cultural heritage that may not and shall not be forgotten.
During the festival the contest of amateur performers playing traditional folk music as well as folklore in modern adaptions will take place.
The qualifying round of the contest is carried out in Internet, the main round will be on July 5, 2014, at small stages of the festival.
The contest winners will perform at the gala concert of the festival alongside with professional groups and well-known artists from nine countries: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Serbia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Romania and Moldova.
The festival will be held outdoors on the shore of the river Klyazma. At the area of 70 thousand square meters not only concert sites will be placed, but also a fair of folk crafts, catering pavilions, master-classes on various crafts, children playground, mini-zoo and much more.
According to the organizers, "Kupala evenings at the river Volkhonka" will become the first event in the series of major festival projects for people of Moscow region and the city of Moscow at the site.
