"Buran" at VDNKh to be Installed by August 1
The replica of the space reusable shuttle "Buran" gets its new permanent place in Moscow – it is transported from Gorky Park to the renovated exhibition grounds VDNKh.
The “newcomer” is placed not far away from the square where Gagarin spacecraft and his "last" plane is located.
The square name is the same as it was called in 1959 (when, in fact, the abbreviation VDNKh has come into being) – The square of Industry.
"Buran", record holder of "spacecraft flight in the space and its descent to the Earth in automatic mode under the control of onboard computer" in Guinness Book of Records, is at the site to the left of the pavilion №20.
Soviet orbital spacecraft – rocket glider "Buran" has been created in the USSR since the mid-seventies, it has made its first flight in an unmanned mode on November 15, 1988.
At VDNKh now there is one of several "Buran" replicas that were produced for spacecraft testing.
The works on “Buran” installation are going to be completed by August 1, 2014 – that is the day of the celebration of the 75-th anniversary of VDNKH exhibition grounds.
