The Exhibition "The Soviet Childhood"
Toys and games, books, movies and cartoons, children clothes and furniture, photos and much more that were surrounding children from the 1960s to the early 1980s are now on display in the Museum of Moscow in Proviant sklady (Food warehouses).
The exhibition aims to show that the cultural layer in the recent past used to be much richer and more interesting than how it is often imagined today. The ideology of the Soviet state has played an important role in that cultural layer, yet not all was subordinated to ideology and for sure children were not interested in it.
The exposition lets the visitor to immerse himself in a whole epoch: look through ABC books, textbooks, children books, watch movies, get acquainted with the operation of children institutions.
Special sections of the exhibition are devoted to the department store "Children World", TV programme "Good night, kids!" and, of course, the celebration of the New Year that exactly at that time has become the main children holiday in the whole country.
