The Russian Festival of Folklore and Crafts "Rus of Songs, Rus of Craftsmen"

1 - 3 august, 2014, Voronezh region


The festival "Rus of Songs, Rus of Craftsmen" takes place every two years, always in the first half of August.

The event starts at the stage site on the pond in Lomovsk natural and landscape park, the favourite vacation spot for people from nearby residential districts.

The location itself of Vorobyevsk district calls for creative competition of cultural traditions: here the borders of Voronezh, Volgograd and Rostov regions “dock”.

Those fertile lands were colonized in the XVIII century mostly by the natives from Lugansk and Kharkiv provinces.

The Cossacks of Don create their own pattern in the multicoloured picture of traditions and ceremonies.

Authentic old songs, dances and rituals make part of the life of people from Vorobyevsk.

Three days Pridonsk steppe is full of folk songs and games, it pleases the eye with products of skilled craftsmen.

At the festival one may observe the work of blacksmiths and tinsmiths, potters and weavers, on a wish one may also buy items he likes. Master classes on folklore are organized, too.
