All-Russia Festival of Military Historical Clubs

The festival is dedicated to Azov siege stay of Don Cossacks in 1641. The festival culmination is the dramatized reconstruction of the battle for the fortress of Azov between Don Cossacks and the Turks of Ottoman Empire. During the staged battle the representatives of  military historical clubs from Russian regions demonstrate their ability to master cold arms from the time of Middle Ages. The event script is developed on the basis of historical documents kept in Azov museum-reserve. For the guests of the festival animated and interactive programmes, master classes,  souvenir fairs, evening shows and fireworks are planned. The entire city during the festival is plunged into the era of the XVII century.

Azov is the oldest among the cities that has preserved their status in the South of Russia. The festival shows the heroism and valour of the Cossacks who had stormed and conquered the fortress of Azak from Ottoman Turks, for five years it was made to be the capital of Don Cossacks.
