The International Festival of Historical Reconstruction and Slavic Culture "Gnezdovo"

9 - 10 august, 2014, Smolensk region


The festival represents the reconstruction of warriors’ culture and living conditions of the population of one of the largest early centers of ancient Russia – Gnezdovo.

The participants and spectators feel themselves involved in the reconstruction of the events of the past, they get acquainted with the history, culture and household life of the population of ancient Russia and its neighbours – people of the Nordic and Baltic states, people from steppe.

At the event trade shops operate where decorations and weapons of Slavs, household items are offered.

Guests may savour original Slavic food and beverages. Craft masters hold master classes on pottery, knitting with bone needles, embroidery, making patchwork dolls, wood carving, blacksmith skills.

Guided tours around Gnezdovo archaeological complex are organized as well as medieval costume contest, concert of medieval music, fire show, medieval games and entertainment.

For children playgrounds are organized.
