Tusholi celebration – the holiday of the first furrow
The traditional celebration of spring cycle is dedicated to the goddess of spring, fertility and childbirth – Tusholi. The veneration of her is widespread among Ingush people.
The celebration in honour of Tusholi is always held in April (the month itself is called "Tusholi-boot" – exactly after the goddess), when the sacred bird has been arriving – the hoopoe of Tusholi (“Tusholi-kotam”).
Since long ago the choice of brides was timed with Tusholi celebration. The older generation was facilitating marriages to be concluded in this month in every possible way for they believed that those marriages would be the happiest ones.
At the day of celebration in all cities of Ingushetia people festivities, fairs and concerts take place.
